SSR

SSR means a web page is built on the server and sent to the browser already complete. Visitors and search engines see the content straight away.

What is SSR?

SSR stands for Server-Side Rendering. The page is put together on the server before it reaches the visitor. The browser receives a page with its text and headings already filled in, not an empty shell.

Here is an everyday case. Think of a product page. Without SSR, the browser first gets a blank page, then asks for the product data and fills it in. On a slow phone that means a few seconds of empty screen. With SSR, the product name, price and description arrive with the first load.

Why does it matter?

Pages appear faster and search engines read the content easily. That matters most for online stores and corporate sites. Tools such as Nuxt make SSR easy with Vue. See how we build sites on our web design page. Other factors that affect speed are covered in site speed and Core Web Vitals.

Frequently asked questions

01

What is the difference between SSR and CSR?

With SSR the page is built on the server and arrives complete. With CSR the browser gets an empty shell and fills it with JavaScript. SSR speeds up the first view and makes content easier for search engines to read.

02

Is SSR necessary for SEO?

Not strictly, but it helps. Google can render JavaScript pages, though it may be delayed and not always complete. For sites that depend on search traffic, SSR is the safer choice.

03

Does every site need SSR?

No. An admin panel or internal tool behind a login will never appear in search, so it does not need SSR. Corporate sites, blogs and store pages usually benefit from it.
