# E-archive invoice

> In Turkey, an e-archive invoice (e-arşiv fatura) is an electronic invoice issued to recipients who are not registered in the e-invoice system, such as consumers. It is sent by email or printed on paper. The rules are set by the Revenue Administration (GİB).

## What is an e-archive invoice?

An e-archive invoice is an electronic invoice issued to a buyer who is not registered in Turkey's e-invoice system. The buyer is usually a consumer or a company outside the system. The invoice is created and stored electronically, then emailed to the buyer or printed if they ask for paper.

Here is an everyday case. A consumer buys a pair of shoes from your online store. They are not registered for e-invoicing, so they receive an e-archive invoice. On the same day a registered dealer places a wholesale order and receives an e-invoice. The buyer decides which document you issue.

## How does it work?

You issue invoices either through the GİB portal or through a private integrator. As orders grow, issuing them one by one on the portal gets slow. At that point your website or internal system connects to the integrator. When an order is approved, the invoice data goes out automatically and the customer receives the invoice. The thresholds that decide who must use e-archive can change, so ask your accountant for the current rule.

### What is the difference between an e-archive invoice and an e-invoice?

The buyer. If the buyer is registered in the e-invoice system, you issue an e-invoice. If not, you issue an e-archive invoice. Both are created and stored electronically.

### How does the customer receive an e-archive invoice?

Usually by email. A printed copy can be given if the customer asks for one. You choose the delivery method in your integrator's settings.

### Can my online store issue e-archive invoices automatically?

Yes. Once the store is connected to your integrator's API, the invoice is issued when the order is approved. Returns and cancellations should be planned from the start.

### Do I have to use e-archive invoices?

It depends on your turnover, sector and how you sell. The rules change over time. Ask your accountant and follow GİB announcements for a firm answer.
